Other Tulsa Roofers May Skip On (Seemingly)
Minor Details… But We NEVER Will
4 Shortcuts We REFUSE To Take… But Other Roofers Might
We get it — roofing materials are more expensive than ever. And following every installation guideline means paying your roofers more for their extra work. So, do you know what a lot of Tulsa roofing companies do to combat this? They. Skip. Steps. And they bank on the idea that YOU won’t notice.
But at GoldenRite Roofing, we respect you too much to do ever do that. And we follow every single manufacturing guideline. And, as a result, your replacement roof doesn’t just look great after installation — it looks great 10, 20, or even 25+ years down the road.
Four Shortcuts That Many Tulsa Roofers Take
If your GAF or CertainTeed roof isn’t properly installed, your warranty may be voided. In other words, if your roofing company skips steps, you’re financially at risk. And, unfortunately, skipped steps happen… and YOU might not even notice them until it’s too late. Here are four necessary steps that constantly get skipped but shouldn’t.
#1. Improper Nail Placement (And Not Enough Nails)
GAF requires four to six nails for every shingle. And the average residential roof replacement requires 1,000+ shingles. Multiply that by six nails for each shingle, you’re talking A LOT of nails. So, as a way to cut costs, roofing companies often have the “bright idea” to use fewer nails per shingle.
After all… who’s going to notice?
Well, YOU will notice the first time a strong windstorm hits. And if your roof wasn’t properly installed, your warranty or home insurance claim may even get denied.
At GoldenRite Roofing, we ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS use four to six nails per shingle — Every. Single. Time. And it’s our commitment to excellent workmanship that has earned us certifications that place us in the top 2% of roofers.
#2. Using Mix-And-Match Parts (Not Complete Roofing Systems)
Do you want to know another way roofing companies cut costs? They mix and match parts. They patch together cheap underlayments, off-brand ridge vents, and low-end accessories to “reduce their overhead.” Then, they may install GAF shingles and tell you that you have a GAF or CertainTeed roof.
The problem? Not all of the components were created to work together. That can (and almost certainly will) lead to early failure and your warranty being denied.
That’s why we install COMPLETE roofing systems from GAF or CertainTeed… meaning every part is designed to work together. As a result, you receive a “Gold Standard” roof that fully protects your home during strong storms and ensures your warranty remains intact.
#3. Not Using Starter Shingles In ALL Areas Of Your Roof
Some Tulsa roofers will install starter shingles along the eaves but completely skip them on the rakes.
That might save a few bucks in material, but it may allow wind-driven rain to sneak under your shingles and inevitably cause leaks. After all, you won’t notice at first if they skip starter shingles… until problems develop.
At GoldenRite Roofing, we always install starter shingles everywhere GAF requires them, which includes the rakes.
#4. Improperly Installing Your Roof’s Ventilation
Roof ventilation is one of the most neglected roofing components. Some roofers may lazily install vents where it’s most convenient for THEM… not giving much thought to the proper placement. In other cases, Tulsa roofers don’t know enough to install them properly.
Either way, it’s a HUGE problem… and you’re the one who will end up paying the price for their mistakes.
Here’s why: poor ventilation leads to trapped heat and moisture in your attic. And this ultimately shortens your roof’s lifespan, raises energy costs, and may even void your warranty.
That’s why we’ll strategically install your roof vents where you need them the most. We ensure that your roof will perform better, last longer, and your home will stay more comfortable throughout the year.
